David James saved Mike Grella's penalty as AFC Bournemouth continued their unbeaten run with a 2-1 win over Scunthorpe.

Two quick goals from Lewis Grabban and Wes Fogden had given the Cherries a comfortable lead at Glanford Road, but Karl Hawley pulled a goal back in the second half.

The Cherries are up to ninth place in League One, while Scunthorpe are second from bottom in 23rd place.

Grabban continued his impressive scoring record as he opened the scoring on 27 minutes, firing home from close range.

Moments later, Scunthorpe were given a chance to instantly strike back, when Charlie Daniels was penalised for a handball in the penalty area.

Grella stepped up, but James comfortably pushed the ball to safety to keep Bournemouth's lead intact.

It got worse for the home side moments later, when Steve Mildenhall's clearance hit Fodgen, with the ball ending up in the net to double the Cherries' lead.

Mid-way through the second half, Shaun MacDonald gave away a penalty, again for handball.

This time, Hawley stepped up and made no mistake, giving The Iron almost half an hour to find an equaliser.

However, the home side rarely threatened and Bournemouth comfortably hung on for the three points.
