GILLINGHAM High School has for many years hosted a variety of music, theatre and dance events in its Creative Arts Theatre through Artsreach.
This February half-term, they are laying on a theatrical treat for the younger children of the town. Valise Noire present “The Girl and The Shoes”, an enchanting fairytale that transports the audience from the rural countryside of France to vibrant Paris, a world of glamour and beautiful shoes, and a story of love, courage and understanding.
Drawing on the timeless classics such as The Wizard of Oz and Cinderella, this unique show will capture imaginations by exploring what happens when you put on magical shoes. Join Valise Noire at Gillingham High School on Thursday 20th February at 4pm. This is suitable for ages 4+.
On Friday 28th February, outstanding performer Alison Neil presents the story of Mary Anning, “The Fossil Lady of Lyme” in Bourton Village Hall. Anning from Lyme Regis, played a key part in an extraordinary era where theories about the world were being blown apart.
At the age of 12, she discovered the first complete fossil of a prehistoric reptile in Great Britain and throughout her life, she continued to make ground-breaking and spectacular discoveries.
In this one-woman play, her fascinating story and that of “the fine clever men of science” who took most of the credit for her work is brought to life in an amusing and moving tale. For more information and to book, call 01747 840057.
