Bournemouth Rugby Club are confident of turning things around when they take on Southend this afternoon.

The Lions have endured a tough time of late in National League Two South - having lost their last five games. However, the Dorset side will be confident of picking up their third home win of the season at Chapel Gate today (2.30pm kick-off).

Lions Director of Rugby David Dunn said: "We're in great shape, and home advantage should make us favourites for this one.

"Nobody gives up at this level, everyone plays for 80 minutes, whereas that probably wouldn't have happened last year.

"At this level, you can't give anyone a chance or they'll take advantage of it."

Southend have almost matched the Lions so far this season - and are almost dead level on points scored and conceded.

Bournemouth rested fly half Ben Stevenson against high-flying Henley last weekend, after a hamstring injury. However, the former London Irish player will start this afternoon's game.

Despite a bruising battle at Henley and taking an early lead, the Lions fell to the league leaders 63-7. Dunn has taken plenty of positives from his side's display last week.

"I couldn't have been prouder of our performance" added Dunn.

"The boys gave everything and deservedly were given a standing ovation after the game."

After a tough string of fixtures, the Lions are hopeful of picking up points against the weaker teams in their division, starting with today's clash with Southend.
