COUNCILLOR Philip Stanley-Watts, the Mayor of Bournemouth, is to participate in the annual Somerley run on 30th December.

The fundraiser for the Wessex Autistic Society, is a 10k course through the private Somerley Estate, near Ringwood. There is also a 2k course available for the family to enjoy.

A keen runner for South West Veterans, the Mayor will be running the fun run as a way of easing himself back into the sport following injury. A very keen athlete, Councillor Stanley-Watts has represented Bournemouth, Dorset and England in athletics, marathons and long-distance running.

Pre entry is now closed but runners are welcome to turn up on the day to register. The 10k will cost £12 on the day. The 2k fun run can be entered for £5 on the day. For further information please call 01202 703597.
