A 21-year-old man from London was shot dead in Boscombe

The shooting of a man in Bournemouth was a professional gang killing.

Twenty-one-year-old Reece James was murdered in Boscombe on Wednesday July 25. Also known as 'Stylie', he was believed to be part of a notorious London gang, the Church Road Soldiers from Harlesden. The victim had been named locally, but not formally identified by police.

At around 2.30am Dorset Police were alerted by the ambulance service that a man had been seriously injured in a flat on the junction between Roumelia Lane and Sea Road.

The victim had been shot in the head and police confirmed a 21-year-old man from London was declared dead at the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Connolly of Dorset Police's Major Crime Unit, said: "We are still investigating the circumstances of this death but I believe this was a pre-planned and targeted attack by a number of offenders."

Police conducted an extensive search of the area, and armed police closed off Bournemouth Train Station for around half an hour following the incident.

The public have been reassured there is 'no immediate concern for safety' following the shooting, and have increased patrols around Boscombe.

Witnesses are urged to contact Dorset Police in confidence on 101.
