On behalf of Cancer Research UK, through the pages of your newspaper, I would like to thank our dedicated local volunteer fundraising group ‘Gillingham Committee’, for their tremendous support they have given to us over the last year.
We are extremely grateful to them and to all of our supporters in this area for the wonderful work they do in the local community to raise vital funds which our life saving research relies upon.
Our supporters are helping to fund exciting progress in finding cures for cancer and new treatments now in clinical trials in hospitals across the South West.
Every year Cancer Research UK scientists get closer to finding cures for cancers and thanks to our supporters, the chances of survival have doubled over the past 40 years.
But, there is still so much more to be done. In the fight against cancer every moment counts, the sooner we can raise more funds, the more research we can do. The more research we can do, the sooner we can beat cancer.
Yet these are challenging times and every step we make towards beating cancer relies on every pound donated, so we are appealing to everyone who cares about beating cancer to please think about how you could help.
There are so many things people can do to raise money - hold a collection/coffee morning/quiz, a dress down day at work, complete a personal challenge, or do something else they enjoy and raise money at the same time.
Our band of marvellous fundraisers in and around Gillingham would love to hear from anyone wishing to support our lifesaving research and can help you with ideas and fundraising materials. Please contact Shelley on 01202 423999.
With heartfelt thanks and very best wishes to all of our wonderful supporters
Shelley Davies, Dorset Local Fundraising Manager
