A car burst into flames near Weymouth, causing chaos for commuters yesterday.

At just after 4.30pm Dorset Fire and Rescue Service were called to a road traffic collision on the Weymouth Relief Road.

A silver Mazda registered to a Dorchester man and a Vauxhall Corsa had collided - closing the road to traffic travelling towards Dorchester.

The road was shut between the Football Ground Roundabout just outside Dorchester and the Jurassic Roundabout in Weymouth

The Vauxhall Corsa caught fire, but no-one was in the vehicle, which suffered extensive damage.

One person was trapped in the Mazda by their ankle, but was freed by crews.
