A depleted Castle Cary RFC were pegged back by Somerset rivals Crewkerne in Tribute Division One.

The hosts used their strong scrum against a rearranged Cary pack, while the visitors also struggled to take control from the line-out.

The hosts opened the scoring with an unconverted try, before Cary hit back with two penalty kicks from full back Carwyn Jones. The hosts again took control and added a penalty to secure a four-point lead before half time.

The home side added to their tally after the restart before Jones’ try cut the deficit to nine points. A comeback looked a possibility when Chris Wake went over for Cary to bring the visitors to within one score of Crewkerne.

The home side secured victory in the closing stages with a penalty kick to seal a 26-18 win.
