This Christmas, Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) is hosting some exciting events to help you prepare for the festivities, and support wildlife in Dorset at the same time!
The Chesil Beach Centre is hosting the annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday 30th November from 10am-4pm. There will be a range of unique nature inspired gifts, including fine silver fossil jewellery, beautiful ornaments for the home, nature toys for children, and books for all ages on everything wildlife. We also have a large range of binoculars - the perfect gift for those wanting to get up close and personal with wildlife. Art and craft stalls will be selling local work there will be plenty of activities to keep the children entertained such as making wild Christmas decorations, festive hair wraps and Father Christmas will be dropping by to set some challenges and maybe hand out a present or two. Mulled wine and mince pies will also be on offer from the Taste* café so you can really make a day of it. Chesil Centre Officer, Marc Smith said, “All profits from the shop will go back into Dorset Wildlife Trusts conservation work so you can treat yourself, your loved ones and treat our local wildlife too.”
Lorton Meadows will be hosting a ‘tree dressing’ day on 30th November from 10.30-12.30pm, inviting visitors to celebrate the ancient tradition of dressing trees with bird feeders and minibeast homes. Refreshments will be provided and we have a selection of Christmas cards, calendars, nest boxes, wildlife books for a unique Christmas gift!
A Christmas Fayre is being held at the Kingcombe Centre on Saturday 7th December from 10am-4pm. Wildlife themed gifts, calendars and cards, homemade jewellery, and arts and crafts will be on offer. Centre Manager, Nick Tomlinson said, “Not only do we have gifts available from the stalls, but the kids will be able to make stick reindeer and have fun in an alternative Santa’s grotto! To get you into the Christmas spirit, we have mulled wine and non-alcoholic mulled apple juice and our award-winning chef from the Kingcombe Centre cafe will be cooking crackling pork rolls and stuffing, roasted chestnuts, sage and chestnut soup and food for younger diners too. Everything you need for the Christmas hamper will be here, including home-made cakes, jams, chutney’s and pickles (also available for local delivery a week before Christmas) and locally produced Ford Farm cheeses and West Milton cider.”
