Christchurch household recycling centre is temporarily closed following a fire in the early hours of Tuesday 6 November.

The fire destroyed a plant vehicle belonging to the site and damaged a skip.  The cause of the fire is not yet known and is the subject of a police investigation.

The Dorset Waste Partnership and its contractor W&S Recycling have agreed to close the site to the public on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 November to enable the necessary clean-up and investigations to be carried out.  The facility will only re-open once it is safe to do so.

Local residents are advised to postpone any planned visits to the site until Thursday 8 November at the earliest.

For updates about when Christchurch HRC will re-open, please check www.dorsetforyou.com/householdrecyclingcentres/christchurch or call 01305 221040.
