Comedy at Poole's Lighthouse

By j-norman  |  Posted: January 10, 2014

Alan Davies is one of a number of comedians coming to Poole's Lighthouse soon

Another side-splitting season of top-class comedy has been unveiled by Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts.

The action kicks off with Jongleurs Comedy Club, who make a welcome return with two dates on 25 January and 8 March, featuring a two hour selection of the country’s best stand-ups.

Fosters Comedy Award Best Newcomer Nominee Joe Lycett (as seen on Celebrity Juice, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and 8 Out of 10 Cats) brings his all-new stand –up show to Poole on 27 February, followed on 23 March by Josh Widdicombe. Josh, best known for co-hosting hit Channel 4 series ‘The Last Leg’ also picked up the coveted Saturday breakfast slot on XFM and has completed two sell-out UK tours and runs at the Edinburgh Festival.

Following the sell out success of his long-awaited return to stand up, Alan Davies brings his highly anticipated follow up show, Little Victories on 4 April. Much lauded as resident dunderhead on QI or the charming but reticent crime solver Jonathan Creek, Davies virtuosic story-telling and whip-smart funny bones combine to make this a show not to be missed.

Bournemouth-based stand-up Gareth Richards (who spent two years co-hosting Frank Skinner’s Sony Award winning Absolute Radio Show) makes a welcome appearance in the Lighthouse Studio on 5 April with his brand new show ‘Gareth Goes Electric’.

Rich Hall’s renowned grouchy, deadpan style has established him as a master of absurdist irony and king of rapid-fire wit. Fans can see the comic genius from Montana discuss a variety of topics all delivered in his own hilarious unique way on 24 April.

Last, but by no means least, you can see Matt Richardson, The host of ITV2’s The Xtra Factor and winner of the Leicester Comedy Festival’s Best New Show award when he brings his much anticipated debut tour to Lighthouse on 25 April.
