Purbeck District Council is in No Overall Control after the Liberal Democrats took the Lytchett Matravers ward from the Conservatives.

Following yesterday’s election, the Conservatives hold 12 out of the 24 seats, while the Liberal Democrats hold 11 seats. Independent councillor Nigel Dragon could play an important role in the make-up of the council.

In Lytchett Matravers, where the turnout was 47 per cent – Liberal Democrat candidate Martyn Colvey beat Tory candidate Peter Webb by 28 votes.

Peter Wharf held Bere Regis for the Conservatives, as did Bridget Kenward in Creech Barrow and Michael Lovell in Langton.
