Rail passengers in Dorset are experiencing delays after a fire under a train at Upwey.

South West Trains has reported the fire has now been extinguished by emergency services, but there are still major delays between Weymouth and Bournemouth.

Rail replacement buses are being arranged, for passengers - who should expect delays of up to an hour.

Passengers travelling to Yeovil, Castle Cary and Westbury are also experiencing delays.

A spokesperson from Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two crews from Weymouth attended Upwey Rail Station, Weymouth, just after 6am this morning following a 999 call to reports of smile coming form the underside of one of the passenger carriages.

"All passengers, approximately 20, were evacuated from the train while Dorset Fire and Rescue Service and railway staff dealt with the fire."
