Sandown and Shanklin 8, Ellingham and Ringwood 16

JOE Tarrant's try secured Ellingham and Ringwood's first away win in three attempts in a physical contest on the Isle of Wight.

The victory keeps Ellingham's promotion hopes alive as they remain in third place in London Division Three.

Ellingham fly half and coach Phil Osman was ruled out after suffering an injury during the warm up – but a well-executed catch and drive from a line out allowed Tarrant to power over the line for the only try.

Charlie Cockram scored the extra two points – adding to three successful penalty kicks.

Speaking after the game, Osman said: "This was a very edgy and tense game – and one that we could easily have lost.

"It was very physical, but we stood up and took the game to them to earn an important away victory."

Ellingham face fourth-placed Eastleigh on Saturday in another tricky away match.
