FLOODWATER has closed the road through Tollard Royal and drivers are being urged to stay away from the village.

Parish council chairman Tony Peel said the B3081 Shaftesbury to Salisbury road was completely impassable today, Monday.

He said: “It became impassable on Saturday and the highways authority put out road closed signs.

“But people are still trying to drive through.

“There is a LandRover stuck in the water. Any traffic trying to drive through causes such a wash that it is affecting the old cob cottages and making matters even worse.”

Mr Peel added: “The springs have come up and combined with the huge amount of rain, we are suffering.

“Several houses are badly affected.

“Drivers can see the road closed signs - they need to find an alternative route.”
