Game of Thrones makes its eagerly anticipated return to television tonight for the fourth instalment in David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’ adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s masterpiece.
Some fans may still be in shock following the brutal ‘Red Wedding’ at the end of season three, but the new series looks set to carry on with even more excitement.
The shocking events in the penultimate episode in season three left most of the Stark family dead, while young Arya Stark played by Bristol’s Maisie Williams - saw her left heartbroken as she closed in on finally being reunited with her family.
King Joffrey’s family even seemed to be getting fed up with the detestable ruler towards the end of the last series, but the Lannisters may face a bigger threat in season four – with Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons raising hell, while the growing threat north of The Wall could see some unlikely alliances.
Game of Thrones has no problem lopping off main characters’ heads or twisting the plot in surreal and brutal circumstances – so fans are in for plenty of surprises as the story continues.
