Do you think people in prison should be treated fairly? Can you volunteer two to three days each month?

The Independent Monitoring Board for HMP Guys Marsh near Shaftesbury is seeking new volunteer members from the local area. HMP Guys Marsh is a category C adult training prison and designated Foreign National Prisoner centre accommodating up to 579 male prisoners. There are plans for it to become a Resettlement Prison.

Volunteer members talk to prisoners and staff and attend a monthly meeting. Typically this will take two-three day per month and can be flexible depending on the needs of the Board and the individual. All necessary training and support will be provided but you need to be enthusiastic, open minded, possess effective communication skills and have the ability to exercise sound, objective judgement.

The IMB is particularly keen to hear from younger people, those of working age and from minority ethnic communities.
