Sports stars and patients joined hospital staff and members of the public to raise awareness of men’s health issues at Bournemouth Hospital Charity’s new flagship event earlier this month.

Almost 350 people braved the brisk weather conditions at the very first March for Men and took part in either the 1km, 5km, or 10km walk or run.

Team GB volleyball player Dan Hunter ran 5km and sailing sisters Kate and Lucy Macgregor ran 10km, before welcoming participants at the finish line and giving out medals and goodie bags. AFC Bournemouth footballer, Eunan O’Kane, and TV presenter, Chris Jarvis, also supported the walkers and runners and gave out goodies on the finish line.

Consultant Urologist Josh Phillips, who also took part in the event, said: “Here at the Trust we see and treat over 15,000 men each year for a number of conditions including prostate and testicular cancer and the event has really raised the awareness of men’s health issues.”
