THE Priest’s House Museum & Garden in Wimborne Minster will be offering a hands on opportunity to find out all about archaeology on Wednesday 14 August.

Developed in the ‘What’s Under Your School?’ project led by Julian Richards of ‘Meet the Ancestors’ fame and Claire Ryley, the indoor archaeology dig gives everyone a chance to find out about archaeology, what archaeologists do and what is under our feet – all without getting your hands dirty!

Choose either a morning session from 10.30 to 12.30 or an afternoon session from 1.30 to 3.30. Admission is £2 per person. The annual pass is not valid for this event. There is no need to book but numbers are limited and will be on a first come first served basis. For further information please contact the museum on 01202 882533 or visit www.priest-house.co.uk. Please remember that all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

‘What’s Under Your School?’ was a project funded by Dr Alistair Somerville-Ford, through the Council for British Archaeology (Wessex Branch). Schools in Dorset and Wiltshire used maps, people and objects to investigate the history and archaeology of their school and local area.
