Dorset Police have appointed James Vaughan as Deputy Chief Constable.

Mr Vaughan is the current Assistant Chief Constable, and will begin his new role on May 1.

Speaking about Mr Vaughan's promotion, Chief Constable Debbie Simpson said: "He has a wealth of operational policing experience and I am very pleased indeed that he will be joining our team.

"It is encouraging that there was significant interest in this post from all over England and Wales and Mr Vaughan was selected after a thorough and competitive selection process.

"I would like to offer my congratulations to Mr Vaughan and look forward to continuing to work closely with him to help make Dorset safer."

Mr Vaughan joined Dorset Police last year after spending twenty years working for Wiltshire Police.

Ah! Another sponger on the taxpayer. Another overpaid, politically motivated, expense accounted pen pusher. Wonder why your Council Tax has gone up? Here's the answer, now we have three more top heavy goons in place ready to push forth the total privatisation of the Police. Thankyou Theresa May. Make way for G4S, Serco and X4 folks, coming to a prison camp near you. Underhill, Simpson and now Vaughan, the Three Stooges. Ask your local bobby on the beat about his diminishing salary, longer hours and worse working conditions. Say goodbye to him, he will soon be down the Job Centre!
