THE Matt Palmer Millennium Eagle Jazz Band play at the Mount Pleasant Social Club in Bradford on Avon tonight (Friday) from 8pm. For more details contact Gerald on 01225 400959.

The Bob Reynolds New Society Jazz Band make the annual pre-Christmas visit to the Weavers Club in Westbury, Sherborne this Sunday playing from 1-3.30pm. Admission is free and lunches will be available from Jan.

The Bell Street Jazz Band are playing at The Dolphin in Wincanton on Friday 7th December from 6-8pm and also returning to The Dolphin on Sunday 9th December from 1-3pm. Please contact 01963 32215 for more details.

On Saturday 8th December, Sherborne Jazz Club presents the Jon Lloyd Quintet at the Plume of Feathers, Half Moon Street. Led by Jon on soprano sax and bass clarinet the quintet features the excellent John Law on piano, Rob Palmer on guitar, Tom Farmer on double bass and Andy Trim on drums. Saxophonist Jon's compositions are both dynamic and sensitive and this group plays them with immense verve and excitement. Doors open at 7.30pm, band onstage 8pm. The Ambassadors Big Band and the Forum Saxophone Quartet will be performing a festive concert on Sunday 9th December from 3pm at the Crown Hotel in Blandford. Proceeds to the Dorset Cancer Centre. For more details call 01258 456626.

Sunday lunchtime session at Jazzy's in Sandbanks, 1-4pm featuring the Andy Urquhart Quartet with special guest.

Dave Bowen and his Jazz Friends appear at the Three Compasses Inn in Charminster near Dorchester on the first Wednesday of every month. The session features some of the most experienced jazz players in the region. They play swing, standards, bossa nova etc. Free admission and the jazz begins at 8.30pm.

The Dave Bowen Quintet play a Sunday lunchtime jazz session 1-3pm at The Trooper Inn in Stourton Caundle on the 4th Sunday of each month. Free admission. The musicians are: Dave Bowen (clarinet/saxes), Tony Pope (keyboard), Mike Botterill (guitar), Mike Ridout (double bass) and Norman Bishop (drums).

On the third Monday each month, New Orleans style seven-piece The Sunset Cafe Stompers play at The Ropemakers in Bridport.
