The Met Office has issued an amber alert for heavy rain as flooding has caused disruption in Dorset today.

16.45 The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning on the River Stour from Sturminster Newton to Wimborne. More rain is expected, with lots of flood alerts still in place.

12:30 Two people and two dogs have been rescued from Whitechurch Canonicorum, using an inflatable sled.

12:15 A technical rescue team from Weymouth and fire fighters from Charmouth and attending to a camper van stuck in flood water at Whitechurch Canonicorum.

12:05 Fire crews from Bridport and Beaminster are currently on their way to help another trapped vehicle at Thorncombe, near Beaminster

11:55 The fire service have had a really busy morning. Here's a round-up of where they have been needed.

11:35 A landslip has caused London Paddington trains towards Devon to terminate at Gillingham, North Dorset. No trains are operating from Gillingham to Exeter St Davids. There is a replacement bus service in operation between Gillingham and Yeovil Junction.

11:00 The flooding at the Monkey's Jump roundabout on the A35 appears to have cleared now. Also the A37 seems to be fine after a lot of standing water this morning. Flood alerts are still in place across the county, however.

10:45 Standing water on the A338 put a driver in hospital after they ended up in a ditch this morning..

10:00 Flooding at the A3066 at Melpash appears to be clearing. There are still several flood alerts in place in Dorset from the Environment Agency.

09:35 The weather has forced Dorchester Town's reserve game against Poole Town this evening to be called off, due to a waterlogged pitch.

09:30 Dorset Police are reminding motorists to be vigilant in the adverse weather conditions and to drive with care.

09:25 Prince Charles might get a wet reception in Dorset today. The Prince of Wales is visiting Dorset County Hospital and opening the UK's first Anaerobic Digester in Martinstown

09:15 Flooding appears to be clearing on the A35, near the Monkey's Jump roundabout. A broken down bus at the roundabout still means traffic is slow. Also, there is reported flooding on the A3066 at Melpash near the Twinways Lane junction.

08:50 A bus has broken down at the Monkey's Jumps roundabout at Dorchester, adding to delays caused by the flooding. Delays are expected in both directions

08:30 The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning on the Lower Frome from East Stoke down to Wareham. Water levels have risen, and there will be further periods of heavy rain for the next few hours.

08:15 Queen Anne Drive was closed yesterday morning after an accident and a fallen tree. Dorset Police have issued a witness appeal after a motorcyclist suffered serious facial injuries.

08:00 The A35 is starting to flood. The road is blocked near Dorchester at the busy Monkey's Jump roundabout.

07:45 Flood warnings have been issued on The Lower Frome near Wareham, The River Char at Charmouth and The River Brit at Beaminster. Flood alerts have also been issued at Weymouth, Dorchester and Sturminster Newton.

07:30 A car has got stuck in flood water near the A37 near Grimstone. There are likely to be delays and slow moving traffic in both directions between Grimstone and Muckleford.
