Heavy snow in Dorset and The Blackmore Vale is causing problems this morning.

This Is Dorset will be bringing you live updates of the situation as it unfolds.

Many schools in Dorset are closed, along with Bournemouth University.

There are also problems on the roads. The A35 is shut between Dorchester and Bridport after two jackknifed lorries.

3:45pm: Poole Council will begin gritting roads again at 5pm today.The gritting will continue through the night with another crew starting at 9:30pm on priority roads.

3:30pm: Both Poole Hospital and Bournemouth Hospital have reported no problems due to the snow.

3:00pm: We've been sent these

2:45pm: A fantastic story from Marilyn Barber from the Stour and Avon Magazine about a woman giving birth in Swanage after battling her way through the snow.

2:10pm: The A35 has now re-opened

1:15pm: The snow is starting to turn to sleet in coastal areas. Roads are still a problem though.

12:15pm:West Dorset council has suspended waste collections today following the heavy snow. Western Gazette reporter Flora Thompson has posted this update.

11:45am: A Bournemouth Council gritter overheated this morning despite the freezing conditions.

11:30am: A lorry has become stuck in snow near Shaftesbury, closing off Cann Hill.

11:00am: Sherborne Primary School remains open , but the majority of Sherborne schools are closed. Western Gazette reporter Flora Thompson has updated us on the situation.

10:50am: Take a look at our photos from Parkstone, Poole this morning.

10:30am: Police advice is to stay off the roads. Major roads in Swanage are blocked, along with Wareham Road in Corfe Mullen, where a bus is blocking both lanes.

10:20am: The A354 is closed near Blandford after a jackknifed lorry.

10:00am: Roads are closed across Dorset and The Blackmore Vale including the A35, Ringwood Road and Alder Road in Poole.

09:20am: Castle Cary Primary School is shut, along with a host of schools in Dorset and Somerset.

09:00am: There are transport delays across Dorset thins morning. Yellow Buses are experiencing delays of up to an hour, while South West Trains are providing an amended service.

08:30am: More schools are announcing they are closed. Bournemouth Council has just issued a statement with these closures;
