Marc Lock’s century handed Sherborne a fine victory over Bere Regis in Dorset Premier Two.
The away side won the toss and put Sherborne into bat – and the hosts made a nervous start to their stint at the crease. Shane Pulling was dismissed for a duck, but fellow opener Luke Hancock steadied the ship – reaching 37 before being bowled LBW.
Lock’s haul of 111 put Sherborne in a commanding position but when he was finally dismissed with his side at 176-5, the tail end of the home side’s batting order failed to make an impact.
Three wickets apiece from Tim Durston and David Barnstable enabled Sherborne to dismiss their opponents for 149. Bere Regis made a disastrous start to their innings, with openers Shane Hewitt and Nick White both out for ducks. The visitors went to 10-3 and then 16-4, but Richard Cole (47) and Garry King (30) restored some pride.
Durston bowled Gren Elphinstone-Davis to secure victory in the 39th over.
