A suicidal man jumped from Bournemouth Pier before being rescued by emergency services.
At around 2am this morning, Dorset Police were called to the pier and found a man on the outward side of the railings.
The RNLI inshore lifeboat, along with ambulance crews were also called to the scene.
“Despite officers’ best efforts, the man was uncooperative and appeared intent on taking his own life” said a spokesman for Dorset Police.
“He jumped into the sea at which time officers threw him a life buoy and kept him calm until the lifeboat arrived.”
The man was treated by paramedics and later taken to hospital, suffering from the effects of exposure.
