Dorset cricket captain Chris Park expects a tough battle with local rivals Devon on Sunday when his side look to build on last weekend’s impressive victory over Wales.
Max Waller will not be available for Dorset as he is needed by Somerset, but Park is confident his team have enough quality to secure victory.
“Max isn’t available for our next game against Devon, but we will certainly see him playing for us again this season” he said. “We had to make some difficult decisions to leave out Lewis McManus and Masoor Khan for the Wales game.
“Lewis will play for us against Devon on Sunday, and it’s great that we have other fantastic players with experience who can come in.”
Devon have also made a bright start to their Minor Counties Trophy campaign, beating Cornwall last weekend, bouncing back from defeat against Wiltshire in their opening contest.
“We’re seeing this as a local derby which we’re very keen to do well in” added Park. “Every year is different and it’s hard to know exactly who you are going to be playing. Against Wales last weekend, there was probably seven or eight new players we hadn’t faced before.
“Once we get this weekend out of the way, we can start thinking about qualifying for the next round of the competition. We need to win a couple of games before we look at qualifying from our group.”
