They've finally done it! After five long years of fundraising, Yewstock School has purchased a brand new minibus.
Over the years there have been countless bingos, bazaars and fetes, quiz nights and non-uniform days and last week they took delivery of a new Peugeot Boxer specially adapted 17-seater (complete with ramp) minibus.
The school would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported them, from the Friends of Yewstock Committee, Marlene Crowder, Sue Finney, Sallie Polkinghorn, Gloria Hunt, Phil Ryall, Margaret Cowell, Clive Padgett and Sue Danoris, who have spent many, many hours organising the fund-raising events, to all the family, friends, carers, pupils, the Williams Williams Trust and members of the local community who have come along to each and every one, made cakes, donated this and that and made the whole thing possible.
Head girl Beth said: "Having a bus is so important to help children with learning difficulties access learning in the community."
It is such a vital part of the school and gives the children opportunities to explore the wider community and see and experience things they may not have had the chance to do before.
