People who suffered damage to their property or business in the winter flooding are being encouraged to apply for financial assistance from a range of government funded schemes.
Funding is available to businesses and households affected by the extreme weather that struck between 1st December 2013 and 31st March 2014 to help them recover and meet the costs associated with protecting lives and property in the future.
The ‘Repair and Renew’ grant will provide up to £5000 for flood affected homes or businesses to pay for additional flood resilience or resistance measures over and above repairs that would normally be covered by insurance.
Businesses that were flooded after 1 December 2013 could be entitled to 100% business rate relief for up to three months. Contact North Dorset District Council to find out if you qualify and how to apply.
Small and medium sized enterprises that have suffered hardship and significant loss of trade as a result of flooding can apply for the Business Support Scheme. Applications will be assessed by a panel appointed by the local authority.
Householders may also qualify for council tax rebates depending on the severity of flooding to their property. Contact NDDC or the website www.dorsetforyou.com for details.
