WETHERSPOON'S in Wimborne has been granted a licence.

East Dorset District Council has agreed that the pub, which will be in the former Conservative Club in West Borough, can serve alcohol and refreshments from 9am to midnight on Sunday to Wednesday and until 1am on Thursday to Saturday.

On Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, Maundy Thursday and the Sundays before Bank Holiday Mondays it can serve them for an extra hour and on New Year's Eve until closing time the following day.

However alcohol cannot be drunk in the outside areas of the pub after 10.30pm at any time.

For the first three months after opening, on Fridays and Saturdays, two door staff for the first 100 customers with an additional one for every 100 more will be employed from 9pm until half an hour after closing. This will also apply for any days when customers are served after midnight.

Doormen will also be needed for New Year's Eve and the folk festival when polycarbonate glasses or non glass substitute will be used from 8pm.
