Members of a Sherborne sports centre have between them lost the weight of athlete Jessica Ennis.
Oxley Sports Centre ran its Shape Up Challenge, during which members were encouraged to get active and lead a healthy lifestyle over a 12-week period. The team who took part in challenge has together lost 52kg (that’s the weight of athlete Jessica Ennis) and a total of 152cm.
Each participant was given a health MOT at the start of the challenge where the Oxley experts looked at nutrition, diet and physical ability and built individual plans based on these results. Members received gold stars on the score board each time they went to the gym, took part in a class or activity or swam in the pool. Prizes were given out when stars were achieved which included personal training sessions, a month’s free membership, guest passes and Coffee Pod vouchers.
Natasha Williams, duty manager at Oxley Sports Centre, said: “We’re so pleased with the results of this year’s Shape Up Challenge. The members have done incredibly well and we hope this will spur them on to keep those inches off and maintain a healthy lifestyle. We’ll be running another Shape Up Challenge later in the year, so keep an eye out for details.”
