Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl has revealed he approached singer PJ Harvey to front a Nirvana reunion in London.

In an interview with NME magazine, the former Nirvana drummer said the Dorset-born singer was asked to sing with the Sound City Soundtrack, along with Grohl and ex-Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic.

Speaking to NME, Grohl said: "For the Sound City gig here in London we were thinking about musicians that we could invite because Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty couldn't make it.

"Someone came up with the idea of doing a Nirvana song with PJ Harvey. Kurt loved her and we love her and we thought, 'Yeah, what would we do?' I said: 'God, what if we were to do 'Milk It' from 'In Utero' with Polly singing?'

Kurt Cobain included PJ Harvey's first album 'Dry' in a list of his top 20 albums of all time.

PJ Harvey was born in Bridport, and went to school in Beaminster.

She later played in several Somerset bands, and studied at Yeovil College.
