Purbeck has been listed among the top ten least affordable areas of rural England, appearing at number eight.

The average house price in Purbeck is £273,586 in comparison to the average local earning of £17,846, a contrast which gives Purbeck an affordable ratio of 15.3.

In information gathered by the ONS, Purbeck house prices are 10-19 times greater than the average wage.

Consequently the average worker may have to put in a third of their salary into paying their mortgage which means it would take them roughly 60 years to pay it off in full.
