POLICE are appealing for information after two quad bikes were stolen in the Sherborne area at the weekend.
Police say a 48-year-old Over Compton man called officers to the scene, on Yeovil Road, when he discovered his Honda quad bike had been stolen from a shed.
Officers said the theft was believed to have taken place between 8pm on Saturday, and 8.30am, on Sunday. It is thought the padlocks off the shed were tampered with before the bike was pushed through a nearby field.
Police were called to a second theft, reported by a 42-year-old Sherborne man, at a farm in Boys Hill, near Sherborne, on Sunday.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said it is believed the incident, where a green Yamaha quad bike was stolen from an outbuilding, took place between 2.30am and 6.15am.
Sergeant Rachel Goodwin, of Sherborne Police, said: "A number of preventative measures, of varying budgets, can be adopted to safeguard properties and outbuildings against thefts.
"In particular, alarms, lighting and good quality locks can help deter thieves and prevent crime.
