Water works taking place in Sherborne continue with an additional road closure starting today.

St Aldhelm's Road will be closed for the duration of the school half-term holiday week to allow a new pumping main to be laid.

The works are part of improvements being carried out until January next year.

New pipelines are being laid which has resulted in a lane closure in Bristol Road for 50 metres leading from the reservoir from Monday.

Two-way traffic lights will be in force until work is completed on January 16, 2013.

Project manager Jonathan Barker said: "We apologise for the inconvenience these essential works may cause.

"It is important the work is carried out to ensure the quality of the water supply in the area is maintained.

"Traffic lights will be monitored at peak times to keep disruption to a minimum."
