Shrove Tuesday might be a week away, but the young trainee choristers at Salisbury Cathedral Choir did not want to miss out on pancakes as it falls during half-term.

So Canon Precentor Tom Clammer invited them to a breakfast party, where they cooked, tossed and ate pancakes.

The youngsters also took part in one of the church’s oldest Easter rituals – burning last year’s Palm Sunday crosses to make the ash for Ash Wednesday.
