Are you considering whether midwifery is the career for you? Anyone who has a calling to be a midwife is invited to spend a day with midwives at Yeovil District Hospital.
The event will take place on Saturday, 9 March between 9am and 4pm and is an opportunity for aspiring midwives to learn more about antenatal and postnatal screening; homebirths; waterbirths; infant feeding.
Student midwives will be on hand to share their experiences and offer advice on applying for a university place to study midwifery.
The event will be held in the hospital's Academy and lunch will be provided. It is aimed at sixth form students and above.
Midwifery Practice Educator, Sara Stride said: "We are inundated with requests for work experience placements in maternity, which we are not able to provide due to the sensitive nature of our work. 'A Day with Midwives' will provide the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the role of the midwife and the opportunity to meet some of the midwives who are keen to share their experiences."
There is a £50 charge for the day to cover costs and lunch will be provided. To find out more please contact Sara Stride at firstname.lastname@example.org or to book a place email Elaine Cox in the academy at Elaine.email@example.com. The closing date for bookings is 1st March 2013.
