Who won the Thisis Halloween Trick or Treat Competition?

  • Martyn Gleaden Art & Images  |  October 29 2011, 10:54AM

Tessa, That's similar to what happened to us when we were kids growing up in Yorkshire. It wasn't "Trick or Treat" there but "Mischievous Night" when we would go out along the rows of terrace houses tapping on windows and tying door knobs to each other using "borrowed" washing lines. You then knocked loudly on the doors and when the people inside tried to open them they couldn't be opened. Of course, some less-than-friendly householders would hide, waiting for us to come along to play tricks then leap out of the dark at us screaming and shouting... That's why I don't "do" tricks any more :-) As Kids our favourite #TREATS were roasted Chestnuts and Jacket Potatoes that we'd hold for ages to warm up our hands before eating them. Offer a kid a hot Jacket Potatoe these days and you'd be lynched :-)

Putting the shoe on the other foot ... instead of waiting for the trick or treaters to play a trick on you, while one of you hands out the sweeties from the front door the other sneaks out the back with a scary mask on to say 'BOO!'. (we of course know the people that knock on our door!)

#TREATS as nobody deserves a trick being played on them. Life should be all about treats :-)
