Trust provides holidays for disabled

Green Island Holiday Trust has been providing holidays for disabled people for 23 years.

For six separate weeks in the summer, six volunteer carers join up with five disabled holidaymakers at Holton Lee, situated between Poole and Wareham. Any form of disability is considered and all holidaymakers are visited beforehand to assess their needs.

A range of activities go on through the week and the Trust has its own boat to provide boat trips in Poole Harbour. The holidays are heavily subsidised and cost £250 per week. The trust is always looking for holidaymakers and during the year it will need to recruit a new Administrator. This is the only paid post in the Trust and entails matching the teams of volunteers to the needs of the holidaymakers. This obviously requires great empathy.

If anyone is interested in this post or indeed would like a holiday please contact Jo Davies on 01929459461 or popedavies@btopenworld.com
