Wimborne 45, Corsham 5
WIMBORNE Rugby Club scored eight tries as the Minstermen returned to form in Southern Counties South.
Having lost their previous three games, Wimborne confidently saw off Corsham – securing a bonus-point victory.
The contest got off to a sluggish start with a forgettable 25 minutes at Leigh Park. The hosts broke the deadlock against the run of play when James Mikolajewski scored a penalty kick.
The Wimborne full back added to his side's lead soon after as he was fed the ball from Ryan Maidment and went over the line for the opening try.
The hosts added to their tally before the break with Jim Brokenshire using his pace to score in the corner, before Will Tabbard went over after an impressive break by Tom Brown.
Wimborne dominated the start of the second period and claimed the bonus point when Brown finished off a patient attacking move to all but end the contest.
Corsham were on the back foot and straight from the restart, a quick break from Wimborne resulted in Aaron Day crossing the line for the home side's fifth try.
The visitors scored their only try following a catch and drive from a line out.
Wimborne rounded off the scoring with two tries from Nick Bolton and Doug Robertson – before Brokenshire celebrated his return to the side with his second try of the game.
The Minstermen are now in third place in the Southern Counties South table ahead of Saturday's home game against Swanage and Wareham.
