Wimborne Town and Bridgwater Town served up a pretty dour draw in Division One South & West of the Evo-Stik Southern League last night.

In their first game in six weeks, Bridgwater rarely looked like scoring – and neither did their opponents from Dorset.

“We were just glad to get the game on,” said Bridgwater secretary Roger Palmer, who has had to rearrange 25 first-team matches this season.

Bridgwater had also feared that the league might force them to play home games on other grounds if this match had been called off.

“I think in the circumstances we were happy with a point,” added Palmer.

Wimborne's defence kept a fourth clean sheet out of five games, but Magpies manger Steve Cuss was disappointed his side couldn't secure back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

"We are always pleased to get a point on the road" said Cuss.

"But on this occasion I am disappointed we couldn't produce that extra bit of class to get a goal.

"We had chances to win the game but we didn't quite manage to put them away."
