WIMBORNE Wayfarers Hockey Club men's first team are now six points clear at the top of Hampshire Division One.
A hat trick from Sam Butterfield and a goal from Simon Ridley gave Wimborne a 4-0 win over a well-organised Trojans side.
The men's second team were unlucky not to edge past Chichester as they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Wimborne hit both posts and the crossbar and failed to convert over a dozen short corners. Alex Green gave Wimborne the lead, but struggled to find the second goal.
Chichester were able to draw level with their only strong attack of the game with four minutes remaining.
With all three top sides drawing, Wimborne remain in second place in Hampshire Division Four.
The ladies' first team finished the first half of their league campaign with a 1-1 draw at Bath Buccs. Holly Cox opened the scoring for the Dorset side, but could not hold on for the win.
Wimborne remain in the second relegation place in East Division Two. The ladies second team endured a torrid time against Blandford as they suffered a 6-0 defeat.
In the minis festival at Gillingham last weekend, the Wimborne U10s struggled to find the net – slipping to three defeats and a goalless draw, despite playing well at times. Wimborne U12s A secured two draws, but also lost twice – with Abby Lovering scoring their only goal. The B side remained unbeaten with two 1-0 victories and two 1-1 draws. Tom Prest scored twice, with Hetti Fox and Katy Jack also hitting the target.
