A FIELD of 21 horses remain in the running for the Wincanton as the racecourse prepares for the Higos Insurance Services Somerset National on Thursday.

In-form trainer, Venetia Williams, has numerous entries on the day and is double-handed in the showcase with Rydalis and Yellow Ball.

The Colin Tizzard trained top weight, Handy Andy, who finished seventh at Cheltenham on New Year's Day, is looking to improve on that run at his local track. Other notable entries in the three-mile three-furlong contest include David Pipe's duo, Alderluck and Shaking Hands, with the latter in need of a reprisal of form.

The Higos Insurance Somerset National Raceday sees Wincanton launch its new owners' initiation, providing all winning owners with a complimentary platter of local Somerset cheese courtesy of Longmans.

The first of six races comes under starter's orders at 1.50pm. For more information visit wincantonracecourse.co.uk
