Wincanton Town hit five past Warminster Town in Western League First Division clash

WINCANTON Town eased past Warminster Town to begin 2014 with three points in the Toolstation Western League First Division.

Lee Gale opened the scoring on 22 minutes after Matt peters found him in space, while Gale came close to adding to his tally on two occasions before half time.

Wincanton captain Mike Taylor doubled his side’s tally on 35 minutes before Matt Chant and Danny Golden both went close before the break.

Warminster cut the deficit on 55 minutes through Sam Clift - before a free kick from Golden restored the hosts’ two-goal advantage on the hour mark. The visitors pulled another goal back through Lloyd Matthews, and almost equalised when Louis Spareys’ effort came back off the crossbar.

Wincanton ended the game on a high, with a penalty from Dave O’Hare and a headed effort from Matt Peters securing victory.
