A WOMAN has been arrested after a two-year-old boy was left abandoned ion a Bournemouth alleyway.
Police were called to the scene at Chelsea Gardens at the bottom of Malmesbury Park Road, Charminster at 5:15pm on Saturday 15 December.
Officers are investigating how the child was left alone, and are keen to hear from the good Samaritan who found the boy.
Detective Constable James Taylor of Bournemouth and Poole CID said: “This is an unusual investigation and we are keen to establish exactly what happened.
“We know a woman found the boy unsupervised while she was out walking her dogs and handed him over to a couple who subsequently called the police.
“The woman did not wait for police to arrive and carried on walking her dogs. We are very keen to speak to this woman and I urge her to get in contact with me.”
A 34-year-old woman from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and has been released on police bail until January 2014.
