HELEN Barton-Smith BHSI of Pippin Equestrian, at Gillingham, has been presented with a prestigious award to recognise the support she gives to young riders.

She received the Silver Stirrup award at the British Horse Society Awards ceremony last week.

Helen and her parents set up Pippin Equestrian in 2003. Since then Helen's focus has been on giving riding opportunities to young people.

Some of her early clients are now her staff whom she nurtured through the BHS exam system to become qualified instructors.

She goes with riding-school children on a regular basis to local and national events and supports the Gillingham School teams with her own horses and in their successes at the NSEA finals.

Helen and her team at Pippin Equestrian continue to teach children with passion, commitment, inventiveness and encouragement.
